Visit the Lehman Caves Gift Shop & Cafe while at the mountain visitor center. We have a post office and a gas station in Baker.  Try a stay at the Hidden Canyon Ranch, and the Border Inn on Rt. 50 (24 hr services, RV hookups, rooms, bar, restaurant, slots, groceries). 

Visit Ely and stay at our sister Inn, the Steptoe Valley Inn Bed & Breakfast and Bakery.  The Inn is a 2 minute walk to the Railroad Museum where you can take a ride on a steam engine train. Visit the White Pine County Historical Society site to learn more about the region. Learn more about the cultural heritage of the area by visiting the Great Basin Heritage Route.

The county is the home of many active and abandoned mines. Enjoy exploring but NEVER enter a mine as they may be unstable.

The area is long with human history.  The first humans entered what would become Nevada around 11,000 to 13,000 years ago. Historians however, have not determined when the first Western Shoshone Indians entered this area. The Shoshone have a colony in Ely.
