I was born in Manhattan, lived in California for 25 years then here-it's different here...I bought the Motel and built out a restaurant, the LectroLux Cafe. I had 2 intents here: 1) to provide guests with fresh road trip food rather than the greasy brown processed foods found too often today in rural restaurants, and 2) serve my guests the quality wines, spirits, and beers that I insist on for myself. I had been in the wine and food businesses for 25 years on and off.
When I was a young man a couple whom I worked for in a liquor store treated me to the Grand Crus of Bordeaux and Burgundy - it's been downhill ever since because of costs. My wine list ranges from very modest but great wines at $15/bottle to some at $50 to $125/bottle. I taste every wine before I buy it.
We offer 6 single malt scotches, 4 grappas (of course, I am Italiano), cognac, armagnac, calvados, ports, madeira, and sherry. And the usual bar spirits.

Adam and I have been back in San Francisco for a couple of weeks now, and we are sorely missing the serene beauty of Great Basin and a couple of spoonfuls away from finishing your ridiculously yummy granola. We’re so glad that you ship your products cause we’d like to order 2 lbs of granola.
You made our stay worry-free so that we could max out on enjoying the natural beauty all around us. Also, your meal-plan is a brilliant idea, and we feel lucky that you were around to prepare breakfast and dinner! Lucky us! And last, but definitely not least, it was a blast to meet you.

"I have just returned to the UK from my first trip to Great Basin NP (me and my buddies stayed up in the park for 2 nights but came down from Wheeler Peak again and again to enjoy the food and relax at the Electrolux) and wanted to say that the cooking and friendly service and the whole ambience of the place was one of the biggest highlights of the trip (we took in San Fran, Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Tetons and all places in between). All these bigger named places could benefit from the cosy hospitality and unique originality of the café and the setting...!"

Motorcyclists - I plan an annual get away for friends to meet up. We kind of take over the place,but Terry Marasco, the owner, has been the most gracious of hosts. He has always done an excellent job in accommodating our group of 20-25 motorcyclists. The food has always been outstanding. You wouldn't expect food of this quality in a 5 star hotel! We were drawn to the place a few years ago when we stopped in and saw the incredible selection of microbrews and fine wines along with a rare selection of grappas. After the first event we were shocked at the level of trust and hospitality we were given. We have always wanted to return year after year. As long as Terry runs his little gem in the outback, we will come!

Bicyclists: "we showed up at the Lectrolux after having ridden 140 miles. You were closed but saw us thru the front door and was kind enough to offer brownies and hiker bars and all manner of culinary delights that seemed wholly foreign to our conception of the Nevada desert. That day offered up dust storms, thunder storms and punishing winds but you gave us one hell of a positive finish. And if that wasn’t enough you showed us to the former ice house for a place to sleep out of the rain. A forceful thank you for all of the generosity above - you’re a genuine guy, on the level.
