  About Us

I, Terry Marasco, bought the Silver Jack in November, 2004 and moved to this beautiful, serene & inspiring place from the San Francisco Bay Area. Having lived in cities all my life (born - New York City – Manhattan) I decided to bolt!

I was in the restaurant business and returned to that business because I enjoy people, and was also in the wine & spirits business for years and hope you find the selections just plain delicious and surprising. The ‘Lectrolux Gallery Café & Movie House will provide great Nevada comfort food and drinks when the birds awake and after they settle. And, on Wednesdays and Saturday evenings, we will feature American & foreign movies in the Café.

Customer and Critics’ Comments

David Toll, Nevada Travel Network"A year ago, when Bill and Kathy Rountree sold the Silver Jack Motel (now The Silver Jack Inn) in Baker, I wondered if its ineffable charm would survive. New owner Terry Marasco has laid any qualms to rest.  He has transformed the former gift shop — originally the town's General Store — into a bright and friendly dining room, serving espresso, French toast and omelets in the morning and an eclectic menu throughout the day: 'Like Life, Our Menu Changes Daily.' The bar is stocked with the finest American-made wine and beer — yes, he has Ruby Mountain Amber Ale and Heffeweizen."

Annie Wells, Los Angeles Times: "Terry Marasco is one of the 52 people who live in Baker…  He bought the Silver Jack in December of 2004 and then moved here from San Francisco.  The Inn is funky but comfortable but his Lectrolux gallery and café is not to be missed."

Jean H: "We had a very nice stay at Silver Jack and especially enjoyed the food. Thank you for your hospitality."

Dan K: "Maggie and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your eclectic oasis. We are sorry we did not get to meet you, to complete the experience. However, Rick took care of all our needs, and was an excellent host."

Scott W: "Thanks for the great time. My folks and I really enjoyed our stay there."

Dorothy S: "Thank you for your wonderful hospitality. We so enjoyed our stay at the Silver Jack hotel. We, among other things loved the barn Swallows flying around, and the relaxing atmosphere -- you live in beautiful country."

Mike S: "Many thanks for turning on the lights and hiding the key.  :o)  We all slept great.  Breakfast was GREAT, too.  Thanks again and we'll pass on the word about your place."

Bob & Sheleagh:  "This is from Bob and Shelagh, two bicyclists who stayed in the Hideaway Cottage during bad weather in April -- and ate most of our meals at your marvelous place. Just saw your ad in ACA magazine. I have been telling everyone about Baker, and now I have the ad to make it easier. We love your place -- it was such a treat, after traveling all through Utah, to find such wonderful food and WINE!!!!"
